Hello, everyone,

This is my first email to this mailing list. I just downloaded and
installed VTK on both
my SUN and NT machine. I use a NT as my working machine and at the same
time
use Exceed to open a Unix session on the same NT. The problem is when I
started a
VTK program such as the VisQuad example under ../graphics/examplesCxx on
SUN and tried
to displayed it on my NT machine, it complained:

Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display "philsner:0.0",
ERROR: In vtkOpenGLRenderWindow.cxx, line 182
vtkOpenGLRenderWindow: Could not find a decent visual.

Did anybody have the same problem before? Any help will be appreciated.

Dear Xu

you need also to have the license for Exceed OpenGL implementation. but I
am not sure it is 100% compliant with GLX and GL

I've used Exceed and Exceed 3D from and SGI origin to a Windows NT PCand I don't remember
having any problems. It worked very well.

Anqing,
I suffered the same problem with both Exceed and MacX. I never found a
solution to the problem after
much interaction with this mail list. It seems that the GLX extension is
not supplied by Exceed. Since it is a
precompiled app for NT, we never found a way to get the extension in.

I am using a simple linux setup and am having no problems. As a side note
if any one is interested, A full
binary release of X is now available for MacOS 10. I wouldn't be suprised
if GLX has been included.

You need to buy Exceed 3D, an add-on that implements the GLX extensions.

http://www.hummingbird.com/products/nc/exceed/index.html:

"Exceed 3D Advanced Graphical Computing Power
Exceed 3D enables high-end engineering and finite analysis OpenGL-based
applications to be distributed to lower cost desktops. Exceed 3D is an add-on to
either Exceed or Exceed XDK and includes the GLXDK for developing OpenGL X
clients."
